Late Quaternary episodes of clastic sediment deposition in the Tarimba Cave, Central Brazil

The study presents three sedimentary profiles from Tarimba cave in central Brazil. data allow constraining the late Quaternary evolution of systems region. A multi-techniques approach was used to characterize sediment texture (grain size and circularity index), mineralogical composition (X-Ray Diffraction), chemical (ICP-OES) deposition ages (Optically Stimulated Luminescence radiocarbon). Eight facies were identified, including a formed by autochthonous sediments (Guano) seven allochthonous siliciclastic sediments. range clayey gravelly deposits that correspond high-density gravity flows (Diamicton) water laid traction process varied energy (Channel, Backswamp, Slackwater). studied reflect an intense filing Middle Late Pleistocene last 200 Ka. Subsequent depositional events sedimentation phases: first before Ka corresponding larger granulometric interval, clay gravel, identified through erosive surfaces; second, after 197 Ka, is composed sandy oscillations flow energy. third phase between 87 52 (which covered other stages) responsible for fluvial deposition.
